Why This Mission Matters
Why I'm Going
This trip is an opportunity to put my faith into action by serving communities in need. It's more than just a trip — it's a chance to be the hands and feet of Jesus, showing His love through tangible service and compassion. I'm committed to growing spiritually and opening my eyes to the needs of others around the world.
Why Slovakia
As a former communist bloc country, Slovakia has a complex religious history — it was once illegal to believe in God. Today, atheism remains dominant and religious legalism replaces authentic relationship with Christ. In Lučenec, a city of 30,000, fewer than 300 evangelical believers exist. The need is real and urgent.
What We Will Do
Noah Johnson and family are SBC-sponsored missionaries working with GEM (Greater European Mission) to invite the unchurched into community with Christ. During our stay we'll partner with them to specifically target Slovakian students — visiting English classes during the day, running a sports club in the afternoons, and hosting a youth group kickoff on the final evenings.
Our prayer is that we would empower these students to start their own youth group by week's end, identifying local student leaders who will continue pursuing Jesus as a fellowship long after we leave.

Visiting local schools for English conversations, games, and authentic relationship building with Slovak students.

Leading activities and sharing testimonies — empowering students to launch their own fellowship by week's end.
After School Outreach
Sports, crafts, and music at local parks and youth centers to share God's love in an organic setting.
Preparing for the Trip
Spiritual Preparation
Daily prayer, Bible study, and team devotionals to keep our hearts focused on God's mission throughout.
Team Meetings
Regular gatherings to coordinate logistics and learn Slovak customs so we can serve the community well.
Fundraising
Raising support through church partnerships and personal outreach to cover flights and all project costs.
